Let's get rid of this "New Year, New Me" stigma and forget about it forever...
Every January 1st, people always say, "New Year, New me!" Which leads everyone else to roll their eyes and sigh because we all know you aren't going to magically change and do a 360. Although, I couldn't help but wonder, why do we need to change ourselves completely? Why isn't the saying, "New Year, IMPROVED Me" trending instead? (That was such a Carrie Bradshaw way to put it).
This past year, I realized I improved on a lot but still have a long way to go for me to be completely happy and at peace with myself. So I urge everyone to just improve on their already beautiful self, instead of completely changing. According to The Cambridge Dictionary, the definition of a New Years resolution is "A promise you make to yourself to start doing something good or stop doing something bad starting January 1st." In no way does it imply you need to create a "new you" to be better than you were. By improving yourself from within first, you THEN will reap the results on the outside.
As for my new years resolution, I chose to put on my list;
be more present in the moment
do more random acts of kindness
be more confident
stay positive
be more organized
and even on the greyest of days, find a little bit of happiness everywhere and in everything
(^ These are just a few of my resolutions, my others are more personal goals.)
Overall, I have the best feeling about 2018. Personally, I think the number 18 is a great number since it is a even and whole number. The significance of the number is favored in Hinduism and Judaism, as it is considered a magical and blessed number representing a long life. So just the number itself sends out positive vibes of being evenly balanced and whole ALL year round.
With love,
Calista
Health and Happiness awaits...
